Festival Season 2016: Our five selections of the year so far

January was over and done with in a heartbeat and now it seems like February blues are much worse than January blues. The weather is bleak, and the nights are long and boring.
But there is only one way to turn that frown upside down, and look towards summer, holidays, festivals, boat parties and plenty of cocktails. What’s not to love? It won’t be long until festival season 2016 is upon us, here’s Inner City’s top five selections of the 2016 festival season starting off with Horizon Festival - if the sun isn’t your thing why not travel to Bansko, Bulgaria for festival in the snow.

Horizons Festival

Saturday 12th - Thursday 17th March 2016 
Getting ready for its fourth season of snow filled fun Horizon is a full six days and nights festival. It’s crammed full of great music, club events and raves.
The biggest ski resort in Bulgaria offers 70 KM of slopes and is the perfect playground for beginners and inter-mediates 
There are 30 parties across the week providing music from 2pm through to 7am, the festival is a host to unique venues such as secret mountain hotels, forest stages, medieval banquet halls, pools, go-go bars and abandoned factories, not to mention the resorts numerous super clubs, clubs and bars. 
The festival contains some of the best value eating and drinking we’ve ever seen! Offering a pint of beer at roughly £1.50 at today’s exchange rate! What could possibly go wrong?

The line-up contains a large variety of acts including Levon Vincent, Gerd Janson, Craig Charles, Kahn & Neek, Channel One, Elijah & Skilliam, Flava D & more…

Annie Mac Presents: Lost & Found Festival
31st March - 3rd April
If you can’t wait till summer is in full swing, why not board that plane to Malta and party with Annie herself.

In its second year Annie Mac’s Lost & Found has a line-up fit for a king. Speaking of kings the festival is bursting at the seams with activities; castle raves, pool parties, flamingos, boat parties. Annie has even added more venues and an extra day to the festivals. What’s not to like?
The massive bill includes Disclosure, DJ EZ, Dusky, Stormzy, Joris Voorn, The Martinez Brothers, Seth Troxler, Katy B, Julio Bashmore, Skream, and many more… With Annie Mac heading up the billing, expect a massive diverse line-up.

Lost Village Festival
27th - 29th May 
A musical experience like no other, Lost Village is an intimate festival experience, open to just 5,000 music hungry individuals. In a secluded woodland, deep in the Lincolnshire countryside lies the most unique dance festival in the UK. Venturing through the isolated woodland you undercover the remains of a village long forgotten. Your senses become alive, your ears will be guided by a rich tapestry of exciting, dynamic and forward-thinking music performed by some of finest artists, DJ’s and bands around.
A few of the acts confirmed so far include DJ Koze, Joy Orbison, Ben UFO, Bicep, Floating Points, Jackmaster, and Gerd Janson, plus live sets from Henrik Schwarz, KiNK, and Fatima Yamaha. A weekend not to be missed.

Parklife Festival
11th - 12th June
Parklife Festival is a staple in the dance music calendar nowadays, heading into their 7th year, it's bound to be another sell-out. Join 75,000 people at one of the biggest dance events in the UK for one of the most eclectic line-ups of the season. 
With a vast array of arena hosts, clubbing partners, and artists billed year on year, including the likes of The Chemical Brothers, Major Lazer, Ice Cube, Busta Rhymes, and Jamie XX, it's no surprise that the success of the event has grown exponentially over the years.

Outlook Festival
2nd - 6th September
Outlook Festival is the largest sound system culture festival in Europe, now approaching its 9th year. It thrives itself on bringing together the biggest names from the liveliest and cutting edge dance scenes around. Outlook blossoms itself on containing underground music, presented on the most pristine sound systems in the festival industry.
Taking place over four days Outlook finishes the summer. The festival is set in an abandoned fort, perched above the Adriatic Sea, next to a beach right near Pula, Croatia.
This year the line-up includes Andy C, Stormzy, Joey Bada$$, Noisia, Hiatus Kaiyote, and hip-hop dons Slum Village. Check out the website for the rest of the line-up so far.
