DAILY NEWS ROUND-UP 06/01/15- NEW MUSIC FOR YOU TO STREAM- FOUR TET & FLOATING POINTS, DEATH GRIPS AND ERASED TAPES

Floating Points & Four Tet’s Final Plastic People Mix

If you follow us on Twitter (which you definitely should) we recently posted about the closure of Shoreditch’s finest- Plastic People. The weeny basement club held residencies with some of the biggest names in music including Theo Parrish, Four Tet and Carl Craig and was known for its loud music and dark lighting. It’s sad we are having to write about another British music venue shutting but at least it is by choice rather then the councils forcing them to. Let’s just hope the people running it open up shop elsewhere like they previously have. Until then listen to this beautiful mix from their closing party by Floating Points & Four Tet. (It’s also available to download, if the link is working).

Death Grips Drop An Instrumental Album

Rap doom mentalists Death Grips have dropped a surprise instrumental album. Not to be mistaken with their album ‘The Powers That B’ out early February (we’re hoping), ‘Fashion Week’ is a complete surprise to us all, not least because the band announced their split last year.
In true Death Grips fashion (excuse the pun), each song is titled ‘Runway’ with a letter at the end spelling out JENNY DEATH WHEN. And again, like only Death Grips can do the album is intrusively brilliant. You can listen online to it now, but Jenny watch out.

Erased Tape’s Mix

London label Erased Tapes are offering a free compilation on their website when you sign up. After having an impressive 2014, Erased Label’s creator Robert Raths beautifully combines tracks by Nils Frahm, A Winged Victory For The Sullen, Rival Consoles, Lubomyr Melnyk, Peter Broderick, Kiasmos, Douglas Dare and Rival Consoles.

If that isn’t enough the lovely guy has also included an exclusive song by Greg Gives Peter Space and a remix of Nils Frahm ‘Peter’ by Clark. Robert. We love you.
