BPM LINE-UP RELEASED

Not that we’re keen for a holiday in January or anything (we are) but we have some more foreign line up news now. The BPM festival has announced it second wave of acts for 2015 and well, WHY IS MEXICO SO FAR AWAY?

Dixon, Jamie Jones, Carl Cox, Marco Carola and Appollonia all return to play in January, however since then a total 283 acts have been added. Yes you read that right 283! And, once again we are amazed by not only the quality of acts but the quantity as well at a festival abroad, this one is very house orientated but packed with huge acts:
Butch, Nosaj Thing, Amé, Adam Shelton, Moodymann, Carl Craig, Mano Le Tough, Eats Everything, Jack Master, Wolf-Lamb, Skream, Solomun, Doorly, Scuba, Seth Troxler, Art Department,  Fred P, Jimmy Edgar, Noir,  Dan Ghenacia, David August, Patrick Topping, Heidi, Maya Jane Coles, Guti, Maxxi Soundsystem, South London Ordnance, Subb An, MK, Sonny Fodera, H.O.S.H, Soul Clap, The Martinez Brothers, Mr G, Richie Hawtin, Ben Ufo, Dusky,  Maceo Plex, Justin Martin
& so many more but we think we should stop now.

TREVOR JACKSON TRIES TO CONFUSE US ALL

Trevor Jackson is due to release an album called ‘F O R M A T’ with each of its twelve tracks on different formats. Coming up for release in February 2015, the limited edition package will be on: 12-inch, 10-inch, 7-inch, VHS, CD, mini disk, cassette, USB, 8-track, mini CD, reel to reel and DAT. The collection, released via The Vinyl Factory will cost over £500 with vinyl and digital released later in the year.

Now, while we are over-joyed at the return of the mini disk we’re not sure if this is a bit too fancy for us, however he did sway us by saying this:
"[The album is] about how every copy of a physical recording is different because of the wear, the marks on the sleeve," says Jackson. "It's a real object in space that's got its own little story; it's the only one of its kind—unlike a digital file, which is the same every time. This isn't even just about vinyl; it's about CDs, MiniDiscs, any physical object that holds music. The thing that holds the music is personalised by the effort you put in to get it in the first place, and it's personalised a little each time you touch it, and of course there's a whole ritual that goes with playing each object."

The music (which some might even say is the most important element) is a selection of his unreleased tunes from the last fifteen years entailing a mix of; techno, house, italo cuts, new wave and probably some experimental ‘bits’.

The Vinyl fatory will have installation for this in early 2015 with the release of ‘F O R M A T’ out on the 25th February.
